A large part of overcoming the fear of failure is being comfortable in your own skin. Which isn’t always an easy thing when we are bombarded with images of what we should look like. It breeds insecurity and it’s with this in mind that this challenge was set; Get strangers to take a topless photo of you.
Now, getting strangers to take a photo of me with my shirt on is already an uncomfortable task, let alone with it off. So before people could process what was happening I was there, standing half naked in front of them waiting for them to take the picture. The longer I stood there the more eye balls I attracted, the more eye balls I attracted the more uncomfortable I felt and the cycle continued.
I’ve heard if you sleep naked, you subconsciously grow in confidence, I don’t know how true this is, but I certainly see the power in vulnerability. The level of nakedness in this challenge certainly helped me feel that little bit more confident about my myself. It forced to embrace an attitude of ‘I do not care what people think’, an attitude embodied by many leaders who break out of the status quo and achieve great things!
“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”
